Our Mission

Empowering the next generation of Latina leaders, BLOOM is dedicated to providing high-achieving freshman and sophomore college students with the support and guidance they need to excel in academics, personal development, and career advancement. Through our mentorship program, we pair these talented young women with well-rounded student mentors and recent college graduates who serve as guides, advocates, and role models.

Together, we are building a brighter future for Latina leaders in the Tech and Business industry, empowering them to thrive and make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

GUIÁNDOTE A TUS ASPIRACIONES

Let’s talk statistics

Latinas make up about 2% of the workforce in the tech industry, despite constituting approximately 7% of the total U.S. workforce.

About 74% of Latinas say they experience microagressions in the professional work space.

In 2021, Latinas held 4.3% of leadership roles, in comparison to a share of 32.6% held by white women.

Approximately 40-50% of Hispanic undergraduate students are the first in their families to attend a four-year university.

For every 1 dollar earned by a non-hispanic white man, a Latina earns just 57 cents.

Cultural stereotypes and implicit bias often hinder the career progression of Latinas in tech. Microaggressions, underestimation of their technical abilities, and lack of mentors or role models make it difficult for Latinas to accelerate in their careers.

Enhancing support for first-generation college students in these fields through mentorship and career guidance could play a crucial role in increasing the number of Latinas in the tech and business industries.

What is our goal? CHANGE.
