The Mentorship Process

Students and professionals complete detailed applications about their background, interests, goals, and what they hope to gain from the mentorship.

Program Expectations

To ensure a successful mentorship experience, we have established the following guidelines for participants.

For Students

  • Commitment

    Participate actively in the mentorship relationship for the duration of the program (typically one academic year).

  • Communication

    Maintain regular communication with your mentor (at least monthly) and respond to messages in a timely manner.

  • Preparation

    Come prepared to mentorship meetings with questions, updates, and topics you'd like to discuss.

  • Openness

    Be open to feedback, guidance, and new perspectives from your mentor.

  • Participation

    Attend at least two Bloom events or workshops during the program year.

For Mentors

  • Commitment

    Commit to mentoring for the duration of the program (typically one academic year).

  • Availability

    Meet with your mentee at least once a month (virtually or in-person) and be available for occasional check-ins.

  • Guidance

    Provide honest, constructive feedback and share relevant experiences and insights from your career.

  • Support

    Help your mentee set and work toward academic and career goals.

  • Participation

    Attend the mentor orientation and at least one Bloom event during the program year.
